🕹 Which platform is right for me?
- Nintendo Switch: portable + TV, family-friendly, Nintendo exclusives (Mario, Zelda, Pokémon). Easiest to just pick up and play.
- PlayStation / Xbox: plug into a TV, sit on the couch, play. Big blockbuster games. Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are subscription libraries of games.
- PC: most flexible, with huge libraries (Steam, Epic, etc.), mods and upgradable hardware, but more tinkering. Steam Deck is a handheld PC.
- Lots of big games have crossplay, so friends on other platforms can still play with you.

🩹 Patches, updates & hotfixes
Games keep changing after release. A patch fixes bugs, rebalances things or adds content; a hotfix is a small emergency patch. Patch notes list what changed.
If a weapon got nerfed it's weaker now; buffed means stronger. Most consoles and launchers update games automatically. Leave your console in rest mode to download overnight.

⚙️ Drivers (PC only, console folks can skip!)
A driver is software that lets your PC talk to your graphics card. NVIDIA, AMD and Intel release new ones often, usually right before big game launches, with fixes and speed-ups.
Update with the official app: NVIDIA App, AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition or Intel Graphics Software. Prefer "WHQL"/stable versions unless a beta fixes your specific problem.

⏳ "Compiling shaders"? Why am I waiting?
Shaders are little programs that draw lighting and effects. Many PC games prepare ("compile") them for your exact hardware on first launch or after a driver update. It's normal, it's one-time-ish, and letting it finish prevents stutter later. Yes, we named the site after it. We've been there.

📈 FPS, resolution & settings in 2 minutes
- FPS = frames per second. 30 is OK, 60 is smooth, 120+ is buttery (needs a high-refresh screen).
- Resolution = sharpness (1080p, 1440p, 4K). Higher looks nicer but costs FPS.
- Upscaling (DLSS / FSR / XeSS) renders lower and sharpens: free FPS. Try "Quality" mode first.
- Biggest FPS savers: shadows, ray tracing, volumetric fog. Or ask our Settings Optimizer.

🛡 Staying safe & sane online
- Never share passwords or "verify your account" codes. Nobody legit asks for them. "Free V-Bucks/Robux/skins" sites are scams.
- Turn on two-factor authentication for your PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and Epic accounts.
- Mute and block freely; report harassment. You don't owe anyone a 1v1.
- Parents: every console has free parental controls for screen time, spending and chat.
